Magic Utsav dazzled the Kozhikode city


Kozhikode: The city of Kozhikode witnessed a myriad of wonders and illusions on a magical fiesta embedded with joy, laughter and surprises. This act of charity titled Magic Utsav 2013 was conducted by the Magic Academy in association with the golden jubilee celebrations of the Kozhikode Corporation for the fund raising of an asylum for the senile, sick and ethnic street magicians of our country. It was conducted from 19th to 22nd of May 2013. 

Street Magic Fest 
They are the inheritors of a great tradition, they are the shining jewels from the garland of a tremendous heritage, they are the descendants of an extensive history- the eight traditional street magicians who created an array of wonders at the Mananchira square, Kozhikode on the 19th of May 2013. 
K.P.Mohanan the honorable minister for agriculture inaugurated the event. The street magicians were honoured by the Excise minister K.Babu. The presidential address was done by A.K.Premajam Mayor of Kozhikode and Gopinath Muthukad Executive Director of Magic Academy briefed the programme.M.T.Padma the leader of opposition, Kozhikode Corporation and Raj Kumar, President of MAZMA gave the felicitation. 
The ethnic street magicians who gathered at the Mananchira square displayed the age-old traditional magic like the Great Indian Rope magic, Indian Basket, and Green Mango Tree.

Kiddy’s Magic Camp
It was followed by a Kiddy’s magic camp for the Kudumbasree Balasabha at the Town hall on the 20th.More than 200 students attended this camp. The programme spearheaded by magician Gopinath Muthukad spotlighted increating awareness on the ill-effects of drug abuse.
Traditional street enchanters from every nook and cranny of the country spellbinded the audience with their spectacular performances.
Dr.L.R.Madhujan, Director of Karunasai Thiruvananthapuram, led a psychoanalytic session for the participants, comprised of tips on how to improve memory, concentration and multitasking.
A video screening of Muthukad’s ‘magical journey’ from Kashmir to Kanyakumari was a special attraction. This campaign had powerful messages against the abuse of drugs and alcohol -stated Samsy Ismail, organizing committee member of the event.A.K.Premajam the honorable Mayor of Kozhikode inaugurated the magic camp. On 21st and 22nd traditional magic paved the way tomodern magic. Gopinath Muthukad presented his 2 hours magic show - Muthukad’s World of Illusions at Tagore Centinery Hall.
