Cash with coin tricks: Rajesh Chandra

Every coin has a magical side, believes the Director of the Malabar Magic Circle and an expert close-up magician, Rajesh Chandra. He invites magicians to learn a set of amazing coin tricks during a workshop he will be offering as part of 79th Perfect Performer Course to be held at the Magic Academy on 10th of July.

To the latest he has won a title in the recently concluded Surat magic convention. It is just a year ago that Mr. Chandra emerged a winner in the country’s first competition of one-minute magic conducted by Bangalore Magic Academy. He was a close-up magic champion at several occasions including the Vazhakunnam memorial competitions organised by the Academy in 2008. At the monthly PPC classroom, it is his third instance as teacher.

Bangalore: If cricket can be 20-20, why can’t magic be of 60 seconds? When Bangalore based Magic Academy led by K.S. Ramesh tried this, result was triumphant, testifies magician Praveen Kumar.

30-year-old magician Rajesh Chandra of Kerala to whom close-up magic is a burning passion, is excited to be a winner in the country’s first ever battle of one-minute’s magic. Out of the 13 other contestants, Magic Maha (29) and toddler-magician, Richin Kuzhikattil (4) were also rated winners.

Mr. Kumar says, "The main attraction of the event was the trend setting 60 seconds competition. We saw 3 winning acts and all were rated equal(there were no 1st, 2nd, 3rd prizes). Winners were: Rajesh Chandra, Magic Maha and the youngest of all was Master Richin."

For competitions, there were neither age category nor stipulations on the type of magic. Winners were presented with attractive silver cups.
