Pattabhiram receives CM's honour

Honouring an experienced magician: Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, K. Rosaiah honours magician B.V. Pattabhiram on the latter's 60th birthday at a function in Hyderabad. Jayaseshu, wife of the magician is also seen on right.

Hyderabad: On his 60th birthday, hypnotist-magician and personality development trainer, B.V. Pattabhiram was felicitated by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, K. Rosaiah on the 12th of February in Hyderabad. The Hindu reports that 'the CM had people in splits on the occasion. He said he was often surprised how some people could create magic and hypnotise people and wondered if he too could wave a magic wand to pull the State out of the current financial crunch. The CM also honoured Jayaseshu, wife of Mr. Pattabhiram and four other luminaries who had inspired the magician. "To improve the mental abilities of students and youth and make them look at life differently was a bit of training" Mr. Pattabhiram said during his reply speech. Speakers on the occasion included Jnanpeeth awardee C. Narayana Reddy and Justice G. Bhavani Prasad of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh.

Blissful experience for devotees of magical art in Tirupati convention

Two-day magic convention culminates successfully. Of the six major prizes, three flows to Kerala.

Tirupati: Jantar Mantar 09, national convention of magicians had kept the temple city under the spell of magic for two days on 7th and 8th of November. Organised by the RK’s Wonder World under the auspices of the Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams, the convention saw around 650 magicians assembling from all over the country. Prominent magicians including Uday Jadugar, Prof. Shankar, K.S. Ramesh, B.V. Pattabhiram and Arun Bonerjee were there, reports magician Kakinada Srinivas.

Mr. Srinivas says that in the morning on the inaugural day, the fiesta began with the delegates reporting and receiving their kits packed with memento, certificate, badge and a few magic wares. Veteran magician B.N.S. Kumar inaugurated the event just after a mesmerizing performance by girl magician Ramyasree. Around 40 top sellers of magic equipments from different part of the country then took the centre stage for ‘Dealers’ Demo’.

Competitions
Stage magic competitions were held on two days for seniors and juniors. The competitions had every thrill since emerging stars and established stalwarts fought in full spirit in their categories. There should be a winner for any competition. And here, charming teen of Bangalore, Karun Krishna re-established his unchallenged prowess by way of fetching first prize in the Junior category. Nine contestants trailed behind him of whom Ashwinraj (Kerala) and the girl magician Sanjusha (Kerala) stood in the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

23 well-established names from the native magic fought each other bringing all excitement and thrill to the senior category competitions. Even as Ranjitha Kudroli Ganesh, Jr. Nayan and Koushik displayed something notable, among their counterparts were three paramount performers. They were magician Samir Patel, Nirmal Kumar and Arjun Tiruvangad who stood on the victory stands at 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. Cash prizes and trophies were distributed by the chief guest, Chinnamgari Raman.

Magic classes
For magicians who believe learning is a life-long process, the two-day event provided a few unique opportunities. Renowned masters in magic, Yona, Nageswara Rao & Pradeep offered worthy classes on the first day followed by educative sessions steered by B.V. Pattabhi Ram and Kudroli Ganesh.

Seniors in the field, including Mr. Pattabhi Ram and Mr. Kumar received heartfelt honour bestowed upon them by the organizers of Jantar Mantar 09. Two magical evenings of scintillating magic show by an array of eminent magicians could certainly enhance the enchantment of the event. Among the evening gala performers were Mr. Yona, Vismayam 2008 Champion of Magic, Dayanithi, Mr. Bonerjee, Brij Mohan and Alex among others. Proving that women too have a place in the mainstream magic, Jayam Jammu and Ramyasree presented their masterpiece items.

Mr. Srinivas concludes his report saying that magicians behind the event, especially Ravi Reddy, Raghubabu, Narasimha, Balaji and Parasuram were given a standing ovation by the delegates for the immaculate conduct of the convention.

Vijayawada: In recognition of his contributions in the field of magic, Magic Star Bose received ‘Magic Emperor’ title from Manasa Sahitya Samskrutika Academy on 28th of June.

AP magicians take a dip in a day of magic

Guntur: 26th State level magic convention of Andhra Pradesh magicians was held here on 25th January with all gaiety and glister, reports Kakinada Sreenivas. A blindfold motorbike riding by Ramyasree was a curtain raiser for the event. Notable was the presence of 160 magicians and five magic dealers who enlivened the day.

Competitions
In a competition between junior magicians, Shaily Rangrez was adjudged the winner. She was followed by Ramyasree and Prawallika in the 2nd and 3rd positions. In the senior category contests, Sudhir Anand, Rohini Kant and Murali Krishna correspondingly became the first, 2nd and 3rd prize winners. Teaching classes by Stick Manohar, Pasala Bhimanna and G. Sreenivas were well received by the delegates.

Office bearers
On the occasion, a new committee for the organization was also elected into power, with magician B.N.S. Kumar as president. Others: Y. Venkateswara Rao (Secretary), G. Sreenivas (Vice President) Reghu Babu (Jt. Secretary) and R.C. Sekhar (Treasurer). J.V. Raman Rao, Mr. Manohar, Master Mohit and G. Sreenivas were honoured on the occasion. Adding glamour to the concluding part was gala performances by Ms. Shaily Rangrez and J.V. Raman Rao.
