State-wide magic fiesta is a
tribute to illusionist luminary, Prof. Bhagyanath
Thiruvananthapuram: Impending is
a splash of magical entertainment for the State. It would not only decide the
best magical performers of Kerala, but also showcase elegant evening shows by
eminent magicians of the country. Magic Academy in association with the Kerala
Sangeeta Nataka Akademi, is to steer a state-wide festival of magic during 1st to
5th of August. The festival christened, ‘Bhagyavismayam’
would be a due commemoration to the illusionist luminary of the past, Prof.
Bhagyanath and an opportunity for the emerging magic starts of the State to
prove their mettle.
If to compare with previous
festivals conducted by the Academy, the ‘Bhagyavismayam’ goes to be a different
kettle of fish with three regional competitions through Kannur, Thrissur and
Kollam. A grand finale in Thiruvananthapuram will find the winners fighting to
win a mega cash prize of Rs.25000 sponsored by daughter of Prof. Bhagyanath and
cinema-television celebrity, Vidhubala.
Regional events
Aspirant magicians of
Kasaragode, Kannur, Wayanad and Kozhikode can register for competitions to be
held at Jawahar Auditorium in Kannur on 1st of August.
Competition for Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur and Ernakulam magicians is
slated for 2nd at Sangeeta Naraka Akademy’s auditorium in
Thrissur. 3rd is the day for conjurers of Alappuzha, Idukki,
Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram to compete at C.
Kesavan Memorial Town Hall in Kollam. Competitions are held in senior and
junior categories. Regional competitions will witness sparkling performances by
contestants during daytime and rocking demonstrations by winners and reputed
magicians through evenings. The Academy has already reserved eminent magicians
for this purpose.
Grand finale
Regional first and second prize
winners would gather at Theerthapada Mandapam in Thiruvananthapuram on 5th of
August, to display the best of their skills. Best of the best performers and
one mega prize winner will be decided during the competitions. To make a day of
it, the Academy has decided to arrange study classes and seminars for
benefiting the participants.
