Free registration for Eco-Magic Competitions and awareness programme

One-day event has a magically rich composition for conservation fans.


Thiruvananthapuram: In association with the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment, the Magic Academy is conducting an environmental awareness day and Eco-Magic competitions for magicians on 20th of June. Venue for the event will be the Wonder World auditorium of the Academy. The Minister for Devaswom, Ramachandran Kadannappalli will be inaugurating the event at a funciton presided over by the Executive Director of the Academy, Gopinath Muthukad. Both magicians and non magicians can participate in the event. There is no registration fee.

Events include a talk on ‘Magical Butterflies’ by Prof. E. Kunjikrishnan and display of the acclaimed video, ‘An inconvenient truth’ directed and acted by Al Gore.

The competitions for magicians will be held in senior and junior categories. Contestants should incorporate the theme of this year’s World Environment Day: ‘Many species – one planet, one future’ in their shows. The competition shows should also include messages on the conservation of water bodies, sacred groves, watersheds and forests; proper checking of vehicular exhausts and control on the use of plastic.
