Magical sensitization on the banks of Bharathapuzha

Thiruvananthapuram: In connection with the International Biodiversity Year, the Department of Forests and the Magic Academy will jointly organise awareness magic shows by Gopinath Muthukad and team all over the State. These performances will held in two venues per district during 1st to 14th of August. To officially declare the magic mission, a special magic show titled, ‘Nilakkai…’ crafted by Mr. Muthukad will be staged at 5.30pm on 13th of March on the banks of Bharathapuzha near Ottappalam.

The declaration function, jointly organised by the Forest Department and the District Administration, will be presided over by M.L.A., M. Hamsa. Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, K. Radhakrishnan will inaugurate the magic show and Minister for Forests, Binoy Viswam will officially declare the magical drive for biodiversity. Member of Rajya Sabha, K.E. Ismail will be the Chief Guest.

The magic show is based on ‘Bhoomikkoru charamageetham’ the much acclaimed poem by O.N.V. Kurup, written as an elegy to our dying planet. ‘Nilakkai…’ will draw attention to the dismal state of today’s Bharathapuzha. The past of a water-plenty river and the present of a dying river are to be skillfully sketched through the fascinating format of magical art. Through his performance the magician gives a call to everyone to remain shoulder to shoulder and save the dying river for sustaining a precious culture and heritage of the State.
