Fire act highlights a burning issue

1. Magician Haris Thaha chained all over. 2. Jubilant Thaha wearing a
Che Guevara T-shirt, enjoys his victory on the shoulders of his fans.

Magician Haris Thaha performed Fire Escape Act at his home town of Varkala. Such escapes are not kids play, he knows. In turn, his was a symbolic act for turning the society’s attention towards a burning issue: attrocities on children. Venue for his fire feat was hence not an alienated ground, but a play space inside the compounds of a primary school.

As Mr. Thaha triumphed over padlocks and flames, children gazed with amazement while grown ups gathered a pithy message.

In the State, on an increase are crime against children – not only at homes and work places, but also in schools.
