MME receives ICCR recognition

Thiruvananthapuram: After a jubilant U.A.E. trip, members of Gopinath Muthukad's troupe, Muthukad Magical Entertainers (MME) found their homecoming still more exciting. Waiting them was a letter from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), an apex cultural body of the central government, confirming their entry to the select list of pioneering performance groups.

For Mr. Muthukad and his troupe, the empanelment was a gratifying recognition for their 32-year-old history of stagecraft on the magic stage.

The ICCR was founded in 1950 by free India 's first education minister, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad with the objective of revitalising the country's cultural heritages. With this aim, proficient performing artistes are empanelled in their reference lists.
