Magic Academy announces INDIAJaal

Country's first ever festival of patriotic magic is slated for January 2011.


Thiruvananthapuram: On this bright Independence Day of the country, the Magic Academy is announcing 'INDIAJaal' the country's first summit of national integration magic to be held on 25, 26 of January 2011 in Thiruvananthapuram. This is going to have all features of a mega magic convention but is devoted to the cause of promoting national integration messages through diverse programmes. In short INDIAJaal is an event that comprises of six types of magic competitions, two lecture classes, dealers malls and some surprise stuffs, but each and every thing oriented towards the cause of promoting national integration, patriotism and social amity.

Innovative competitions
The competitions include Flash India (flash production of a patriotic slogan); Illusion (national integration illusion show with one magician and three of his assistants); Patter Magic Sr. and Jr. (pungent speech using one's mother tongue) and Conjuring Sr. and Jr. (national integration conjuring show). For illusion competitions, magicians of age 15 and above can only take part. In this category a magician can bring three assistants on stage. Railway parcel charge, if any for carrying illusions will be reimbursed on production of valid bills. The Flash Magic slogan production competitions provide one minute for each contestant to produce the best national integration slogan on stage. Patter Magic (Sr. & Jr.) is an innovative slot to find the best speech using regional languages of the country. Jury for this will be provided with translator's support.

Best patriotic dealer
The event's attractive features also include a prize for the dealer who introduces the best magic equipment that helps magicians to perform the patriotic magic shows in the most effective way. Not over, the delegates of INDIAJaal should appear in their local traditional costumes on both days of the event. To encourage this, a prize is set apart for the magician who wears the best traditional local costume of the country.

Jansuraksha award for Muthukad

Gopinath Muthukad has been selected for Jansuraksha Award for national integration by the Pathanamthitta based Gandhi Bhavan International Trust. This is in recognition of Mr. Muthukad's contributions using magic as a medium for reinforcing the values of communal harmony, social amity and patriotism among people all over India. The three national missions undertaken by the magician have also been reckoned by the judging committee.
Other winners of the Gandhi Bhavan's Jansuraksha awards are: the Minister for Forests, Binoy Viswam (Environment) and Executive Editor/CEO of the India Vision channel, M.V. Nikeshkumar (Journalism).

North Indian leg of magical journey ends at the land of Kalinga


Bhubaneswar: The magical journey of love, harmony and national unity led by magician Gopinath Muthukad has entered the land of Kalinga that has a history of transforming the mind of emporer Asoka to the path of peace.
An enthralling performance before the Governor Muralidhar Chandrakant Bhandare (Photo above)at the Raj Bhawan atop Bhalu Mundia hills here marked successful culmination of north Indianleg of national integration Vismay Swaraj Yatra led by Mr.Muthukad and team from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. The Governor formally declared that the curtains were down for the magical mission’s north Indian performances. He wished success for the Yatra’s South Indian leg that would begin from Visakhapatnan tomorrow (23/11/07). Mr. Bhandare said that after watching Mr. Muthukad’s show he could understand how powerful the magical art was in carrying messages of Gandhiji and national integration to the masses. The Governor also lauded the commitment possessed by the magical entourage.
Minister for Agriculture, Surendra Nath Naik inaugurated the entourage’s patriotic magic show at Utkal Sangeet Mandap. The Minister for steel and mines, Padmanabha Behera honoured Mr. Muthukad by presenting Konark Soorya Chakra, the State’s cultural emblem (Photo below).

The magic tour will reach Kanyakumari on 30th November after performances at Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Chennai, Trichy and Madurai.
Ministry of Defence, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Life Insurance Corporation of India and Union Bank of India are the chief promoters of the Yatra.
