Thiruvananthapuram: The Magic Academy has come up with the largest online data collection on Indian magicians. Information pages of around two thousand magicians have been made available at www.magiciansindia.com.
The site is designed by Invis Multimedia with comparatively easier search options. On clicking a ‘Magicians Search’ button, a space appears for typing in a part of either the magician’s name or his/her place of domicile. A complete list of names carrying the words appears then. Required magician’s information page can be reached by clicking a button against the name.
The site is an online version of ‘Magic India’ a directory published by the Academy last year. An alphabetic index, photo gallery, magic news etc. are soon to be added. “This is an era of online boom. Hence we have come out with an online edition of the directory printed last year.”, says the Executive Director of the Academy, Gopinath Muthukad, on the free online offer.
Magicians who find any additions or deletions required on their information page, can submit such information at magicacademyindia@gmail.com. New entries and insertion of photos are also possible. The Academy provides all these as a totally free service.

Hey, finally the much awaited magicians directory is out and in my hands.
Thanks to the MAGIC ACADEMY, Chief Editor, Shri Gopinath Muthukad and all at the Magic Academy.
Excellent piece of hard work... Nice quality offset printing... well indexed and very colourful ads...anyone will fall in love with this book!!! (I have myself)
The best part of the handbook I like is the FACT LINE on almost every page of the handbook...giving a vast info on magic and magicians of the past and present.
This handbook will definately go a long way to help the upcoming and new magicians to find new and experienced magicians in our beloved art, "MAGIC"...
I would personally highly recommend this handbook to all... It's worth the Rs 200/- plus investment!!!

Largest directory on Indian magicians is out
Titled, Magic India, the book gives contact details of around 2000 native magicians.
Film Director, Sathyan Anthikad (second left) releases 'Magic India', national directory of Indian Magicians by giving a copy to General Manager of the Federal Bank, T.S. Jagadeesan at Kochi Press Club on 1st of July. Executive Director of the Magic Academy, Gopinath Muthukad and Chairman and Managing Director of SB Global Educational Resources Pvt. Ltd., R. Balachandran are also seen.
Kochi: ‘Magic India’, the largest data bank carrying contact details of around two thousand Indian magicians, was formally released today by noted film director, Sathyan Anthikad at the Press Club here. General Manager of the Federal Bank, T.S. Jagadeesan received the first copy of the book.
"When it's a request from a magician like Mr. Muthukad to whom service is life motto, I can't but come here for releasing this useful book", Mr. Anthikad said. He also added that his passion for the art of magic was fueled by super star Mohanlal who used to perform one or two tricks at the shooting sets. Mr. Anthikad hoped that the directory would further the message of magic and foster friendship among magicians. In parallel to these comments were Mr. Jagadeesan's opinion. Chairman and Managing Director of the SB Global Educational Resources Pvt. Ltd., R. Balachandran offered words in felicitation of the function.
Published by the Magic Academy, the 433 plus pages of the directory make a handy source of reference. With the book, made easier is contacting both modern and those traditional street magicians who are scarcely known but immensely talented. Available telephone numbers and addresses of emails and websites of magicians are also provided on its well-set pages.
One year’s hard work was required for collecting, segregating and compiling the huge data into the form of a handy directory. In order to spot a name easily, separate index pages are given at the beginning, in the order of real and stage names of magicians.

Entire data given in the book will be soon available online at www.magiciansindia.com. This first ever portal on native magicians is a joint offer from the Academy and the Invis Multimedia. The site is presently under construction. To get the book by post, a sum of Rs.200 plus Rs.80 towards Speed Post charges should be made in favour of the Academy.

Compilation of National Magicians' Directory begins
Thiruvananthapuram: Work has begun at the Magic Academy for the compilation of the latest edition of National Magicians’ Directory. Release of the book titled, ‘Magic India’ is slated for 1st of January 2009. As on 30th of September, the extended last date for submission, over one thousand entries from different parts of the country to the proposed directory, have been received.
Based on a number of suggestions received from magic fraternity, the editorial desk is ferreting out ways for making the book user friendly one. Main task is to introduce a very easy reference system depending on real and professional names of magicians. Efforts are also on to make it easier for the readers to make their searches based on the belonging States of magical artistes.
To make the book a comprehensive data bank on magicians in India, the editorial board has decided to incorporate all those magicians who are already in the mailing list of the Academy.

Directory: Last date extended to 30th Sept.
Thiruvananthapuram: Entries for getting enrolled in the Magic India national directory of magicians will be accepted till 30th Sept. The decision is because several magicians have found one month so insufficient for them to furnish the forms properly.
Since the announcement a month ago, the idea of publishing a directory of magicians has been well received by the magician fraternity. An average of five to 10 entry forms are being received per day at the Academy. With this pace, there is every chance that the directory becomes the biggest ever collection of data on the native magicians.
Editorial board of the book is ferreting out ways to publish the names of magicians in a more user friendly manner so that those who refer the book would find it easy to identify magicians. Indexing will be in such a way that it won’t be difficult for anyone to find out a magician by his professional name or original name.
Making it comprehensive
The Academy has also decided to include names and addresses of all magicians, who are already in its mailing lists. Hence, unless a letter sent from the Academy is returned, the address will find its way into the Magic India directory, too.
