100th PPC tour to Ponmudi with Yona on 9th June


Magicians’ own PPC, the long run prestigious refreshing course now hits its century in June. The programme, a unique platform for native magicians to shape their steps and styles in magic has been in its non-stop travel from 2004 January. And it is engraving its milestone to the magicians’ history while marking the hundredth episode on June 9th.
The former administrative head of Magic Academy, K P Sivakumar, who spent more than a decade with Magician Gopinath Muthukad for the professional togetherness of magicians in the country, brained the theme of magicians’ opportunity to aim their excellence.  PPC has rolled out to sharpen the skills and thrills of magician for their performance with exactness. The first ever refreshing programme of magicians is an eye opener since its inception. 
The magicians’ magic, Palladam M Yona will be leading the day long programme of hundredth Perfect Performers Course and it is Academy’s decision to mark the celebration with an off town camp at Vithura, thirty five kilometers away from the capital city. A stay out segment to Ponmudi will also be added to outshine the benchmark at mother earth’s lap.

Magician Salutes Red Ribbon Express



Vitura: Ponmudi, the beautiful hill station near Trivandrum poured the affection and passion to magicians on their togetherness to mark the milestone to hundred. Tiny drops of companionship colored them cheer and cherish. A memorable day out of magicians was organized as part of century episode of most prestigious stimulating course, the PPC.
Academy accounted the credit of experts for the non-stop refreshing programme in the past 99 months from the year 2004 when it commenced and it was noted as the necessity of the juncture to celebrate at a spot of magic, at a height of 1066 mtrs from sea level.
The lecture with demonstration by Coimbatore based magician Palladam M Yona encountered the desires of delegates at Vitura Rohini International Hotel in the morning session. The breath-taking turns on the way to Ponmudi was thrilling to all in the team when it mix with a cause of magic. Magicians both reputed and up comers, attain the extremes of joyfulness at their togetherness with beloved magician friends on the peak of Ponmudi.
On return, fabulous magical feast served by Palladam Yona, who also known as Chaplin Magician along with Magician Muhammed Shanu is left the tastes of magic of 100th PPC to the remembrance. Academy Executive Director Gopinath Muthukad, Directors Chandrasenan Mithirmala and R Rajamoorthy, guest faculties Bivin Lal, Karamana Raghu and many more took part.

‘Axis Talent’ has got awesome Sreekanth


Mumbai: As a manager, Sreekanth S. Namboodiri  is darling to Axis bank and its customers. As ‘magician Sreekanth’, he dazzles fans of magic across the country. As a guest faculty of Magic Academy, he is acclaimed for his pedagogic skills.

This former secretary to the India ring of International Brotherhood of Magicians recently became one among the select few who got a chance to shine at the amazing talent show titled, ‘Axis Got Talent 2012’ in Mumbai. The entry to this exciting show was not a cakewalk for the banker magician. He had to prove his mettle during severe screening processes in which only the best of the best competed. Finally, pan India, only 60 extremely talented people from different creative arenas got the doors opened. Of this, Kerala’s share is two: magician Sreekanth and Ajithkumar, an able singer.  

For the magician, who could spellbind even his counterparts through his lectures on ‘showmanship and presentation’, the show in Mumbai was a roaring success. After watching his stupendous performance stuffed with marvels of mentalism, the Solitaire Corporate House here gave a standing ovation.

Preeth’s magic holds Indian flag high in Helsinki


Helsinki, Finland: Magician Preeth brought laurels to India by securing third prize in Comedy Magic at the 14th World Deaf Magicians’ Festival held here from 22nd to 29th April.   The World Deaf Magicians’ Festival is organized biennially by the Society of World Magicians since 1986.  Fifty deaf magicians from 15 countries including USA, England, Germany, Russia, Italy and India participated in the festival.

30-year-old Preeth’s selection to the festival was owing to the first prize he bagged in comedy, stage and micro categories of magic at the first All India Magic Competition of the Deaf organized in Bangalre on 5-6 February by Delhi-based All India Deaf Arts & Cultural Society.  During the event, he was also adjudged Best Magician.
Alumni of the Magic Academy, Preeth frequently takes the mantle of a magic teacher at the Academy. Currently he is working as User Interface Designer in a company in Technopark. His wife Bhavya, father Dr. K.N.Pavithran, mother Prabha and sister, Parvathy are very much delighted at his glittering achievement.     

Public Relations recognition awarded to Magician Samala Venu


Andhra Pradesh: Magician Samala Venu, a qualified Public Relations Professional was honoured with an Award for “Best Communication Programme through Magic” by PR Voice and Dr. C.V.Narasimha Reddi Foundation.
The award was given to Sri. Samala Venu on the occasion of National Public Relations Day on 21st April, 2012 by Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology and Communication, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh. The public relations day observance was organized by Public Relations Society of India in Hyderabad.

Ganithavismayam –magical homage to maths wizard Ramanujan

Thiruvananthapuram: Magicians and intellectuals in the field of science paid magical homage to maths wizard Srinivasa Ramanujan on April 26th at Priyadarshini Planetarium here. The event, titled, Ganithavismayam organized by the Magic Academy was well supported by the Kerala State Science and Technology Museum, the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment and the Life Insurance Corporation of India. Noted Mathe-magician from Coimbatore, Cijam Jammu inaugurated the event. The Academy’s Director, Chandrasenan Mithirmala gave introductory speech. Gifted magician from Karnataka, Prahlad Acharya was present.
Benefitting from the occasion was magicians from different States and budding magicians of the Academy’s summer magic camp. Mr. Jammu and Mr. Acharya were displaying their splendid skills in creating engrossing combinations of mathematics and magic.  Both demonstrated innovative magic fostered with aspects of maths. The duo also showed how fascinatingly magic promoted the value of mathematics. When told in magical language, mathematics became more malleable, comprehensible and enjoyable to all.
Vismayam 2008 champion, Dayanidhi made a surprise appearance to the cheers of the audience.  A crash magic gala performance by Mr. Jammu marked the finale.
An event like Ganithavismayam participating native magicians having ability in the area of Mathe-magic, was held for the first time. The programme is envisaged as a year-long one that would be extended to schools and colleges. In designing the event, the Academy was inspired by the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh’s recent remark that the country needed more mathematicians. 


Cruise of ‘SBT MAGIC with a MISSION’ persuades the youth


Thiruvananthapuram: A mission wheels from the north to the south of Kerala with a vision of magician to eradicate evils of tobacco, alcohol and drug abuse in the society. Led by Gopinath Muthukad, the statewide magical campaign, ‘SBT MAGIC with a MISSION’, is on its success trail. The magical campaign is a ready response to a call by the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy and organized under the auspices of the State Government.
Venue after venue, the programme is noted for huge public participation. The magic team has already crisscrossed Palakkad, Kasaragode, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Idukki, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, Thrissur and Alappuzha districts receiving stirring response from spectators. The show is based on an intelligently crafted theme that strongly sensitizes viewers on the hazardous effects of tobacco, alcohol and narcotic substances. For addicts who repent and wish a return to virtuous life, the magic show sends a motivational call.
Having the State Bank of Travancore as its major promoter, the magic tour is part of the anti-addiction campaign jointly launched by the Excise Department and Information and Public Relation Department. District Administrations also support the programme intended to enlighten youth at grassroots. 
A curtain raiser held at Palakkad gathered wide publicity owing to an interesting magic number wherein Mr. Muthukad made his disciple and the district’s chief, K.V. Mohankumar vanish in daylight. The voyage was flagged off at Kanjangad by the Minister for Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, K.P. Mohanan. The minister on the occasion successfully tried his skill in magic by producing a skull from the ashes of a piece of paper written drug and alcohol.
It was during the valedictory of a successful five-day mission with similar objectives held in Kochi that the CM appealed the magician to carry forward the message throughout the State.
