Magic Academy Award for Pradeep Hudino


Thiruvananthapuram: This year’s ‘Indrajala Puraskaram’ the annual award instituted by the Magic Academy goes to magician Pradeep Hudino, Beypore’s pride in magic. This is in recognition of the contributions he has exerted during his 28-year-long career as a magician. His unique accomplishments including escape magic stunts, fairs and festival of magic he has organized, inception of a magical theme park and recognitions he could already earn have made him eligible for the award. The award comprising of a purse of Rs.10000, citation and memento will be presented to him by the minister of culture, M.A Baby on 31st of January at the Academy’s Wonder World Auditorium. Born as K.P. Pradeep, magician Pradeep Hudino is the third in the lineage of Indrajala Puraskaram awardees.

Risky track
Mr. Hudino has sharpened his magical talent through insistent experimentations. Very adventurous Rail Track Escape was staged by him successfully on 30th of September 1983. Though he was shackled and laid across the rail track just in front of a fast approaching Mangalore-Madaras express train, he could work the magic well to escape unscathed, leaving thousands of spectators awestruck.
A police case was registered by the authorities against this act, but it could not douse his spirit. After seeing this demonstration, ace novelist, Vaikom Mohammed Basheer ordained him the heir to Harrry Houdini. Thereafter on magic stages, he became famous by the adopted name, Pradeep Hudino.
A set of daredevil performances including 450km blindfold motorbike riding act that found a place in the LIMCA Book of Records and great underwater mystery in 1997 are also to his credit. Mr. Hudino has tried the fire escape act and propeller escape act with huge success though his audiences had to pass such moments only with a bated breath.

Recognitions
Mr. Hudino has been a recipient of a number of recognitions, titles and awards. 2001 edition of the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi award that was issued as Vazhakunnam Puraskaram in connection with the centenary of the magic doyen of Kerala, was offered for this enthusiastic performer.
He has established a magic theme park, ‘Magic World’ in Kozhikode that has been described as the only one of its kind in the world. He is married to Uma and has a daughter, Deepta and a son, Dinoop.
